Manchester City beat West Ham with monster Haaland performance
Lucas Paquetá dozed off near the West Ham area, Bernardo Silva stole the ball and passed it to Erling Haaland to score in the 11th minute of the game.
In the 18th minute, Jarrod Bowen crossed into the Manchester City area and Rúben Dias sent it into his own goal, scoring an own goal and tying the match.
Near the 30th minute, Haaland received a ball from Rico Lewis inside the penalty area and scored a great goal, with a cross shot, putting the Citizens ahead on the scoreboard again.
After the break, in the sixth minute, West Ham mounted a perfect counter-attack, but Mohammed Kudus hit the crossbar.
In the final stretch of the match, Matheus Nunes, who came on for Jack Grealish midway through the second half, provided a beautiful pass for Haaland to score another and reach his second consecutive hat-trick.
And Haaland almost scored the fourth. In the second half’s injury time, he had a chance to score inside the penalty area, but the goalkeeper stopped him. On the counterattack, Ederson worked a miracle on a shot from Crysencio Summerville.

Haaland’s numbers

The Norwegian has now scored six goals in three games in the 2024/25 Premier League. Only Manchester City have scored more goals than him this season. Since arriving in England, he has scored 70 goals in 69 games. That’s eight hat-tricks. The best average in history, in any month, for a player with more than 500 minutes on the field.

In all competitions, Haaland has 102 appearances, 96 goals and 15 assists. Coincidentally, the Norwegian’s first Premier League goal was in August 2022, against West Ham, at the Olympic Stadium in London.

Why didn’t Savinho play?

Savinho was cut from the match at the last minute. PL Brasil learned that the Brazilian felt discomfort in his knee and was spared by coach Pep Guardiola. It is not yet known whether he will be cut from the Brazilian team, which faces Ecuador next Friday (6) and Paraguay on Tuesday (10).

Attacking midfielder Phil Foden is another player who has been ruled out of the Manchester City squad through injury. “ I hope he will be ready after the break! He didn’t feel well after Chelsea. He’s not feeling perfect yet, so we will give him time to recover ,” said Pep Guardiola.

Premier League Table

With the victory, Manchester City took the lead in the Premier League, with nine points and a 100% record, while West Ham is 14th, with three points.
