Going to a nightclub gets Lille star expelled from the national team
Edo Zhergova, along with Arijanet Muric and Florent Muslija, are believed to have violated the Federation’s regulations by missing Kosovo’s match against Cyprus
Edon Zhegrova , Arijanet Muric and Florent Muslija were expelled from the Kosovo national team training camp on Sunday after being caught in a nightclub after the curfew set by national coach Franco Foda and the country’s federation.
In a statement released on social media, the body that oversees Kosovo’s football confirmed the inappropriate behavior on the part of the Lille midfielder, the Ipswich goalkeeper and the Freiburg player , stressing that it will analyze what punishment will be applied to the athletes.
«By joint decision of coach Franco and the Federation, the three football players: Arjanet Muric , Edon Zhegrova and Florent Muslija have been withdrawn from the national team due to violation of the national team regulations established by the coach and the Federation. Further measures regarding the players in question will be decided by the FFK Executive Committee. In the meantime, the team will be accompanied by the goalkeeper who is on the standby list, Faton Maloku, from FC Drita», read the statement released by the Kosovo Federation , which confirmed the absence of the three players for next Monday’s match against Cyprus .
After the decision was announced, Zhegrova ‘s reaction was immediate and the Lille star took to Instagram to emphasize that the news about his trip to the nightclub was not false and that he would respond to the accusations on the field.
“Hello everyone. Fake news. The news being spread has no basis whatsoever. I will speak on the pitch, see you soon. Proud,” wrote the midfielder in a story.
It should be remembered that this alleged departure of the players took place one day after Kosovo was defeated at home by 0-3, with Romania counting for the 1st round of group 2 of League C in the Nations League .
