UEFA names Nuno Mendes in Champions League team of the week

The Portuguese international scored the winning goal for PSG against Girona in the 90th minute

UEFA released the best team of this first week of the new Champions League format , this Friday, and the highlight was the presence of a Portuguese, Nuno Mendes , who gave PSG their first three points of the competition .

The Portuguese international was a starter, like Vitinha , and scored the winning goal for the Parisians against Girona last Wednesday, in the 90th minute. However, the ball only went in because of Gazzaniga ‘s huge mistake .

Thibaut Courtois was named in goal despite conceding a goal in Real Madrid ‘s 3-1 win over Stuttgart at the Bernabéu, with Lala , Panák and Matviyenko making up the defence. In the four midfield positions we have Tielemans , Gravenberch , Wirtz and Bynoe-Gittens, with the Belgian scoring and assisting in the Young Boys- Aston Villa (0-3), while the Liverpool player played the full 90 minutes in the victory in Milan (3-1). The Bundesliga ‘s best player last season scored twice in Bayer Leverkusen ‘s rout at Feyenoord (4-0), having been elected as the best player of this matchday, and the Englishman from Dortmund scored twice in Brugge (3-0).

Finally, the attacking duo is made up of Harry Kane , who scored four goals in the historic 9-2 win over Dinamo Zagreb , and Antoine Griezmann , who scored and assisted in Atlético Madrid ‘s home win over Leipzig (2-1).
