Arsenal thrash Bolton on record-breaking night
The Gunners comfortably beat the third-tier English club and Mikel Arteta gave several youngsters their debuts
In the round of 32 of the English League Cup, Arsenal thrashed Bolton , a team from the third tier of English football, 5-1 at the Emirates, and Mikel Arteta had the opportunity to debut some young players and, consequently, break records.
To start, the Spanish coach gave Jack Porter, a 16-year-old who became the youngest ever to be named in the Gunners ‘ starting eleven, the starting goalkeeper . Lewis-Skelly (17) and Josh Nichols (18) played on the wings, with Ethan Nwaneri (17) in midfield and Maldini Kacurri (18) coming on in the second half.
After Declan Rice opened the scoring in the 16th minute, it was Nwaneri who scored the next two, scoring his first two goals for the club and breaking yet another record… the youngest ever Arsenal double scorer . The first was assisted by Sterling (37′), who scored the fourth goal, and the second by Rice (49′).
In a counter-attack, Collins reduced the deficit for the visitors in the 53rd minute, easily passing the debutant Porter, but Havertz sealed the match in the 77th minute.
