Bruno Fernandes complains about his expulsion: “Even Maddison said he wasn’t a red”

Bruno Fernandes , sent off in Manchester United ‘s heavy home defeat to Tottenham , before travelling to Dragão for the Europa League , reacted to the match and complained about the straight red card he received.

“Nobody wants to get sent off, it’s not a good feeling. It’s never a red card. Even James Maddison when he got up said it wasn’t a red card. If it’s a red card, then we have to look at a lot of other incidents. It’s a foul, there’s not much contact, if he [the referee] wanted to give me a yellow card, he would have agreed. I don’t understand why VAR didn’t call him to have a look,” he said, speaking to Sky Sports .

“I want to say that I left my teammates with one man less, I appreciate everything they did on the pitch. We didn’t start the game well with 11 players and then they did very well. It was difficult to cover all the spaces, there are many good things we can take from that. I’m proud of the team,” he added.
