Real Madrid accuses La Liga of not reporting insults to Vini Jr

Real Madrid on Tuesday accused La Liga of withholding information about more problems that occurred during last Sunday’s derby against Atlético de Madrid at the Metropolitano stadium. Among those incidents were racist insults directed at striker Vinicius Junior .

— The truth is that violent people cannot be in football. Not at the Metropolitano, or on any field. Football doesn’t need them. Let them stay somewhere else, somewhere that isn’t dangerous. I’m talking in general. It doesn’t matter if they’re fans of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético, or Villarreal. Let the violent people leave us alone — commented coach Carlo Ancelotti, when asked today about the derby.

The programme “El Chiringuito” and the newspapers “As” and “Marca” have brought details of an 11-page document sent by Real Madrid about incidents that occurred at the Metropolitano that La Liga had not previously reported . The Spanish league confirmed the sending of the documentation.

Examples are:

  • A knife confiscated from a fan who threw objects onto the pitch;
  • Death chants for goalkeeper Courtois;
  • Racist insults to Vinicius Junior;
  • Celebration of Atlético’s goal with the “ultras” sector.

La Liga has informed Real Madrid that these and other allegations will be added to the final report on the Clasico, which will be submitted to the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) . It will then be up to the RFEF Competitions Committee to decide what sanctions to apply.

The day after the match, the Spanish league released a statement reporting 11 chants of verbal violence during the derby at the Metropolitano.

Images of the confusion show several ultras, members of organized fan groups, hooded, masked or with other items covering their faces .

In the week leading up to the match, some Atlético fans took to social media to wear masks to the match. The idea was to allow them to insult Vini Jr., especially with racist practices, without being identified.

The derby at the Metropolitano was interrupted in the middle of the second half , shortly after Militão’s goal, after Atlético fans threw objects onto the pitch towards goalkeeper Courtois. The board of directors of the Colchonero team promised to identify and punish the fans responsible.
