Italy thrashes Israel in the Nations League

Italy returned to winning ways in Group 2 of the Nations League A on Monday after last Thursday’s 2-2 draw against Belgium .

In the home match against Israel, in Udine, the team led by Luciano Spaletti achieved a large result, which was built, essentially, in the second half, during which four of the game’s five goals were scored.

The Azzurri went into the break with a narrow lead after Retegui successfully converted a penalty in the 41st minute. The second goal came in the 54th minute, with Di Lorenzo scoring the first of his two goals.

Israel , however, managed to reduce the deficit in the 66th minute, with a goal from Mohammed Fani, but the Italian response was not long in coming and Fratessi restored the advantage by a two-goal margin in the 72nd minute, before Di Lorenzo closed the scoring in the 79th minute.

With this result, Italy remains in the lead of the group, now with 10 points, while Israel remains without any points, having lost all four matches so far, at a time when pressure is increasing from the international community, including FIFA, for Israel to be subject to international sanctions due to the situation in Gaza and Lebanon.
