Arsenal are leading the race to sign Swedish striker Gyokeres as they assess his impact on the team’s attack
Arsenal lead search for striker Viktor Gyokeres
Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres, who has excelled for both club and country.
Gyokeres, who most recently played in the Championship for Coventry City, has struggled to establish himself at Brighton but is now regarded by some experts as one of the best strikers in the game.
According to the Fichajes website, Arsenal are very interested in signing Gyokeres. The 26-year-old striker could cost around R$617.2 million to be bought from Sporting.
Gyokeres could strengthen the Gunners’ attack
The London side would benefit from investing a large sum of money in a striker like Gyokeres. He could help players like Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz perform better in attack.
The Fichajes report highlights that Gyokeres is a versatile player, with a total of 74 goals and assists since joining Sporting last season.
Arsenal could surprise with Gyokeres investment
While Arsenal are not known for spending huge amounts on a single player, there have been a few exceptions. The signings of Declan Rice and Nicolas Pepe are examples of this.
In the past, Arsene Wenger also surprised by bringing in Mesut Ozil in a big deal in 2013. So perhaps Mikel Arteta feels it is worth investing in a promising striker like Gyokeres .
