He was one step away from Benfica and now he renews with Juventus
Mattia Perin extends his ties with the Bianconeri
Juventus confirmed on Wednesday that they have renewed the contract of Mattia Perin , the 31 -year-old goalkeeper who put in a great performance on Tuesday against Stuttgart in the Champions League .
The goalkeeper renewed his contract until 2027. Having arrived at the club in 2018, he has never established himself as an undisputed starter, at least throughout an entire season and in 2024/25 he has shared the club’s goal with Michele Di Gregorio .
In a statement, Juventus highlighted Perin’s commitment, despite the few games played: «He always defended our goal with charisma and commitment in the 51 games he was called up for, but his importance always went beyond the pitch.»
Since arriving in Turin, Perin was also loaned for a season and a half to Genoa (where he had already made his mark). Also in 2019, he was very close to signing for Benfica , but the physical problems he was experiencing at the time prevented this deal from being completed.
“I don’t feel like a second goalkeeper, but rather a co-goalkeeper. Personally, I’m doing very well, I try to bring a bit of experience and, indeed, passion to everything I do,” said Perin after signing the new contract.
