Jordi Alba and the Ballon d’Or: “For me, Messi has to be there always”
The Spaniard said the Argentine remains the best in the world, something he is proving at both club and international level.
Just a few days before the next Ballon d’Or ceremony, which is the first time in 20 years that neither Lionel Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo have been nominated for the award, Jordi Alba shared his point of view, stating that the Argentine should be among the 30 chosen as the best in the world.
“For me, Leo has to be there always. Maybe because he came here he wasn’t given any importance, but he continues to make a difference. For me, he is the best in the world, without a doubt, and in his country, with Argentina , he continues to make a difference. For me, he is the best, he has always shown that, but it is respectable that they give it to someone else”, he explained, with Vinícius Júnior being the favorite to receive the award next Monday, October 28th.
“Whenever people ask me about Messi , I say that he deserves every award that they can give him, I think he is by far the best player in the world and for me he is the best,” he added, also talking about the fact that Inter Miami are the favorites to win the MLS.
“We’ll see what happens with the main candidates. I’ve already said that we weren’t going to win because of our name, but because of the work we were doing on the field. We’re doing a spectacular job and I think we’re stronger at home with our people,” he concluded.
