Lamine Yamal was the target of racist insults at the Bernabéu during El Clásico , in which Barcelona beat Real Madrid 4–0 in La Liga .
The young Spanish talent scored one of the goals. After scoring, Lamine Yamal made a gesture with his finger pointing to the ground and began to be the target of racist insults from the stands. The Spanish international then turned his back on the fans, pointing to his name and number, with the racist insults continuing from the Merengues fans .
This was not the only time the young player suffered racist insults from the stands during the classic.
In a statement, Real Madrid condemned the fans’ attitude and opened an investigation to identify the authors of the “regrettable and despicable insults, in order to adopt the pertinent disciplinary and judicial measures.”
” Real Madrid categorically condemns racism, xenophobia and violence in football and sport, and deeply regrets the insults made by some fans last night. Real Madrid has opened an investigation with the aim of finding and locating the perpetrators of these regrettable and despicable insults, in order to adopt the appropriate disciplinary and judicial measures,” the official statement read.
