UEFA has appointed Italian referee Davide Massa to officiate Bayern v Benfica , counting for the fourth round of the league phase of the Champions League .

Wednesday’s match will feature an all-Italian refereeing team, with Filippo Meli and Stefano Alassio as assistants and Simone Sozza as fourth official. VAR will be handled by Aleandro Di Paolo and Daniele Chiffi.

Bayern and Benfica face each other after defeats in the third round. The Germans lost to Barcelona (1-4) and the Eagles to Feyenoord (1-3). The Germans have three points, compared to Bruno Lage’s team’s six.
