Van Nistelrooy praises Rúben Amorim: “He is a young and talented coach”
Manchester United’s interim coach has made himself available to the Portuguese coach, who will replace him as club manager on 11 November; the Dutchman also praised Bruno Fernandes
Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Chelsea and Ruud van Nistelrooy remained unbeaten in charge after beating Leicester 5-2 at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils’ interim coach once again commented on Rúben Amorim’s imminent arrival in England and revealed that he has not yet spoken to him: «In the next few days we will be in communication and I am expecting that. The most important thing is that tomorrow we are training and preparing for Thursday’s game [ PAOK for the Europa League ]. I haven’t spoken to Amorim yet, but that will happen», he began by saying, in a quick interview at the end of the match, before praising him highly.
“I’m looking forward to getting to know him better, he’s done very well in Portugal , he’s a young and talented coach who has performed well over a long period in Portugal . I’m looking forward to continuing to help the club progress, that’s my main objective,” he explained, putting himself at the Portuguese’s disposal as assistant coach.
«We are supporting the new coach, everyone at the new club is focused on the two upcoming games, which are very important, but then we will work hard to make this club better every day», he assured, also talking about the match and also about Bruno Fernandes ‘ goal , from the penalty spot, his first in this edition of the Premier League .
“I’m disappointed we didn’t win, we had the best chances of the game, but overall the performance was fantastic. They gave everything on the pitch. It was a great moment, the goal, when Old Trafford exploded. Bruno Fernandes did well with the shot and the emotion came out of it. This week was special, I enjoyed every second. I’m here to help and I’ll support the new coach and make the club grow,” he concluded.
