Former Brazilian international comes out of retirement to play in England’s 7th tier
Sandro, who played for Tottenham and represented B SAD in Portugal, as well as being close to Sporting in 2016, signed for Harborough Town
Sandro, who had officially ended his career in 2023, is back in action to represent Harborough Town, in the seventh division of English football. The decision to return to the pitch came after a conversation with Mitch Austin, Harborough Town manager.
“I had a chat with Sandro a few weeks ago. We started talking football, I told him about Harborough and he’s been texting me ever since. He’s an unbelievable signing for the club. Sandro has stayed fit and is a great, humble man. When the chairman and I met him he was very polite and you could see he really wanted to sign for the club,” said Mitch Austin.
Harborough Town play in the Southern Football League. The club recently made headlines by progressing from the first round of the FA Cup, followed by third-tier Reading.
At 35 years old, Sandro, a Brazilian international, has represented clubs such as Internacional and Tottenham. In Portugal, the midfielder wore the B SAD jersey. In 2016, he was close to joining Sporting, but failed his medical.
