Mbappé criticized in France: “The least the captain has to have is attitude”

The striker’s performances against Germany and Chile did not convince Christophe Dugarry, former French international champion of Europe in 2000 and the World Cup in 1998

Christophe Dugarry, former French international champion of Europe in 2000 and the World Cup in 1998, harshly criticized Kylian Mbappé for his performances in the preparatory games against Germany and France
“Obviously you choose your games. I don’t criticize him for doing so. I criticize him for choosing games poorly. You explain that you are ready to take on all the responsibilities, as was the case against Germany, and you do the same against Chile. We are used to an Mbappé who walks, who doesn’t worry about the defensive part. Here we had an Mbappé who simply wasn’t connected”, he began by saying, speaking to RMC Sport .
«I think it’s unacceptable when you wear the national team captain’s armband. The least you need to have is attitude, it’s crucial. I think Mbappé didn’t understand the role of captain. It’s about being exemplary, setting an example. I don’t think it’s normal to show such a deplorable attitude in both games. It doesn’t take anything away from its immense qualities. But when you’re captain, you have to be irreproachable”, he added.
