Edoardo Bove was tying his boots when he fell to the ground. The clock read 17 minutes into the first half when the midfielder collapsed. Players rushed to help the midfielder, and Inter coach Simone Inzaghi was the first to reach Bove. Fiorentina’s Gosens tried to untie his teammate’s tongue.
The atmosphere at the Artemio Franchi Stadium was one of total shock. The ambulance had not arrived on the pitch and the Fiorentina players were in despair. Everyone gathered around Bove to prevent the 22-year-old’s collapse from being seen on camera or by the fans.
Bove, who was lying on his side, was shaking and his eyes were wide open. The stands fell silent from the moment the player fell. The match was subsequently suspended and postponed. A new date for the match has not yet been announced.
According to Italian newspaper Repubblica, Bove was taken by ambulance to the Careggi University Hospital in Florence and is “alert, conscious and breathing independently.” The information was confirmed by the official broadcast of Serie A.
