Ruben Amorim spoke at a press conference this Monday to preview the clash of titans between Manchester United and Arsenal , next Wednesday, and revealed that, after an injury suffered in pre-season, Leny Yoro is close to making his debut in the team’s squad.

“We have one more training session to decide,” said the Portuguese coach. “Yoro is in good form, his fitness is improving, so I think he will be in the squad.” The 18-year-old centre-back was United’s most expensive signing last summer (he joined from Lille for €62m) and is much admired by Amorim.

“He is a special talent. Very fast, he is a modern defender and that is good when we press high because he can manage one-on-one situations well. He is strong on the ball, but we have to be careful, we have to manage his minutes. I am very excited to see him play,” added Amorim.

The coach also praised Bruno Fernandes ‘ physical availability , denying the possibility of leaving him out of the team against the Gunners : «He is ready to play, he is someone who does not need much rest.»

Speaking about the opponents for the 14th round of the Premier League , Amorim admits that Arsenal «will be the most difficult opponent» since he arrived in England: «It is important to be brave. We cannot always press too high, we have to understand the moments of the game and we need to have the ball – that is a fundamental point.»

“I don’t like my song”

Finally, Amorim commented on the chant that the fans at Old Trafford have already created for him… and which he is not a fan of.

“I don’t like my chant. I feel a bit embarrassed because I’m a coach, the fans have to sing for the players and for the club. I understand and appreciate the connection with the fans, but I want them to support the team and the players, because they are on the pitch and I am off it, but I feel very honoured by that,” he explained.
