Fans banned from stadiums for a year over insults to Yamal
Consequences of the Real Madrid-Barcelona classic
The four fans accused of racist insults towards Lamine Yamal during the match between Real Madrid and Barcelona will be banned from stadiums for one year, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) announced on Monday.
The RFEF Anti-Violence Committee has proposed a ban on stadium attendance and a fine of five thousand euros for each of the four fans accused of racism against Barça players in the 4-0 victory that took place last October in Madrid.
Several insults against Lamine Yamal were shown in videos published on social media after the goal he scored in the 77th minute, and the Spanish police detained these fans, as they had no doubt that there was sufficient evidence of the use of racist terms.
The sanction has now been announced, at a time when the fight against racist acts is one of the football industry’s priorities.
