With Salah’s brilliance, the Reds fell behind but managed to turn the game around. Goalkeeper Kelleher’s mistake at the end gave the home team a draw. The advantage at the top of the table was reduced to seven points.
HAVE A HEART!
In a great game with six goals and many chances for both sides, Newcastle and Liverpool drew 3-3, this Wednesday. The game, played at St. James’ Park, was valid for the 14th round of the Premier League. Isak, Gordon and Schär scored the goals for Newcastle, while Curtis Jones and Salah (2) scored for the leader of the English Championship.
SALAH WANTED TO SOLVE IT, HE DIDN’T ALLOW KELLEHER TO BE WARNED!
The duel between Newcastle and Liverpool was one of the best in the current edition of the Premier League. In the first half, after Liverpool took the initiative and managed to create danger twice with Mac Allister, even hitting the post, Newcastle started to take control of the game after 20 minutes. With good passing and some defensive errors from Arne Slot’s team, the home team threatened Kelleher at least three times and opened the scoring with a beautiful finish from Isak.
The second half was even more exciting, with Curtis Jones equalizing after just five minutes, finishing powerfully after a three-finger pass from Salah. In the 17th minute, Gordon put the home team back in front. Three minutes later, Isak extended the lead, but was caught offside. In the 22nd minute, Salah received a cross from Arnold and tied the match again. The Egyptian star decided to put an end to the match in the 37th minute, when he received the ball in the area, turned beautifully and finished in the corner to turn the score around. But Salah failed to connect with goalkeeper Kelleher, who came out of goal very poorly after a cross into the area, and left Schär free to finish into the net in the 45th minute of the second half.
ADVANTAGE AT THE TOP FALLS TO SEVEN POINTS
It is true that Liverpool, with 35 points, are still the sole leaders of the Premier League. However, with Chelsea’s 5-1 victory over Southampton, their lead has fallen from nine to seven points. The London team now has 28 points and is Liverpool’s main rival in the fight for the title. Newcastle are in 11th place, with 20 points. In the next round, the Reds face local rivals Everton, while Newcastle face Brentford.
