Despite being in the starting eleven in Milan ‘s last match – a victorious home match against Crvena Zvezda (2-1) for the Champions League -, Davide Calabria has not been an undisputed starter for Paulo Fonseca and in that last game there was a controversial situation with his coach.

The Rossoneri captain was replaced by Emerson Royal in the 83rd minute, with the game still tied at 1-1, and the Portuguese approached his player to greet him, but the Italian did not react. Therefore, Calabria took to social media to respond to the Italian press, who accused him of having a bad relationship and of not respecting Paulo Fonseca, something that is not true, according to the 28-year-old player.

“Hello everyone. I feel obliged to clarify things. In recent months, I have let many things slide, avoiding responding to unpleasant or made-up situations in order to save time and energy. Perhaps I should have done so even earlier. Today, I think it is time to say a few words. As in the past, in recent days, a lot of misinformation has been circulating about me and our team. Fake news that does not deserve any weight, but at this moment, I consider it necessary to respond to protect my image and that of our team,” he began by writing in an Instagram story .

“These inferences about the dynamics of the pitch, the various clashes and my private life are not true, they only create confusion and division. I ask for respect for myself, for our work and for the club we represent. Constructive criticism is part of our job, but falsehoods are not. I ask everyone to inform themselves before spreading news that could harm people or our environment. Our focus continues to be on the pitch, where we work every day with the utmost professionalism to improve. I will not allow anyone to undermine my love and commitment for my favourite team. Thank you to everyone who always supports us. Forza Milan !”, he added.
