At 35 years old, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will have his first experience outside of Europe, as he has signed a contract with the New York Red Bulls, of the MLS . The Cameroonian international has signed a two-year contract, with an option for a further one year.

“We are thrilled to add a player of Maxim’s calibre to our squad,” said the team’s sporting director, Jochen Schneider. “Maxim is a great player, a winner and his experience in the top European leagues will be very important for our club in 2025 and beyond.

Choupo-Moting has been without a club since the end of last season, when his contract with Bayern – where he scored 38 goals in 122 games – ended. Before that, the forward had spells at PSG , where he was runner-up in the Champions League in 2020, Stoke City, Schalke, Mainz , Nuremberg and Hamburg , where he trained. He has not played for more than seven months, since May 8.
