Chelsea boss reacts to Mudryk suspension
Enzo Maresca believes the Ukrainian international, provisionally suspended after testing positive for doping, is innocent
Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca believes in the innocence of Mykhailo Mudryk , provisionally suspended after testing positive in a doping test, arguing that the case was due to contamination and not premeditated action.
“We trust Mykhailo and we know that when these things happen we have to support the player in every way. Mykhailo is a Chelsea player , he is in the squad and my job is to be in contact with him. We trust him and we support him, that means we believe in him. I don’t believe it. I believe he will come back. The only thing we don’t know is when. That is the only doubt we have, but it is certain that he will come back,” he said in a press conference.
The Blues coach regrets that the Ukrainian international’s suspension came at a time when the forward “was improving a lot”.
Chelsea , with Renato Veiga , Pedro Neto and João Félix , face Shamrock Rovers on Thursday in the Conference League .
