Atlético de Madrid fan is arrested for threats and racism against a child wearing Vinicius Jr’s shirt.

Police in Spain arrested an Atlético de Madrid fan last Wednesday (28) for racially insulting and threatening a child for wearing Real Madrid ‘s Vinicius Jr. ‘s shirt . The situation happened before the classic against the rival, in September 2023.
According to Spanish officials, the girl suffered a ‘severe anxiety attack’ following the incident, which occurred outside the Wanda Metropolitano before the LALIGA match on September 24.

The girl, who was with a family member, was racially insulted and received death threats, according to a police report. Those who accompanied her were hit in the arm before other fans intervened and the family left the place.

The man was arrested by police after being identified through video evidence that was able to determine where he had entered the stadium.

In 2023, Vinicius Jr., on more than one occasion, was the target of racist attacks by fans of Real Madrid’s rivals. Four people were arrested after a doll representing the Brazilian was hung on a bridge in the Spanish capital before a derby against Atlético in January last year.

A Valencia court is currently gathering evidence after three fans were accused of racially insulting Vinícius during a LALIGA game at the Mestalla Stadium in May last year.
