Klopp surprises after becoming champion for the 8th time with Liverpool
The English League Cup title , won this Sunday (25), over Chelsea , was widely celebrated by Liverpool . But it had a special taste for coach Jürgen Klopp.
Despite having won seven other titles with the Reds, including the Premier League , Uefa Champions League and Club World Cup , the German coach considered this Sunday’s (25th) to be the most important.
“In more than 20 years (of career), it’s easily the most special title I’ve ever won. I get asked if I’m proud of this, proud of that, and it’s really complicated. I’d like to feel proud more often. Tonight there’s a feeling overwhelming: ‘My God, what is happening here?’ I was proud of everyone,” he highlighted.
“I was proud of the way the fans encouraged us, I was proud of the team for creating this environment where the boys can do what they do best, I was proud of my coaches. I was proud of so many things. It was really impressive,” added Klopp .
At Liverpool since 2015, the German coach announced in January that he will leave the club at the end of the 2023-2024 season. Until then, Klopp can win another three titles.
Leader of the Premier League , the Reds are in the round of 16 of the FA Cup and also the Europa League .
