Guardiola chooses who is Manchester City’s best rival in the Premier League
The coach decided to comment on who is the team that gives him the most work in the national competition.
Manchester City has dominated the Premier League in recent seasons, winning five of the last six editions. The citizens are the current three-time champions of the competition.
The team’s dominance is enormous, and to date, no other club has presented a threat to this hegemony. After winning the Champions League, the expectation is that the team will strengthen even further.
Quite sincere in giving his opinion, the club’s coach, Pep Guardiola, decided to comment on the teams in the competition.
Without thinking twice, the Catalan decided to choose who is City’s best rival in the English Championship.
Guardiola chooses Liverpool as best rival
On the eve of a clash against Liverpool in the Premier League, Guardiola revealed in an interview that the Reds are his best rivals in English football.
“ Time moves forward, eight years and Liverpool is not the same team as when it started. They are similar, of course, Trent Alexander-Arnold can play inside now, but the ideas are similar. They have always been our best rivals. Elite club, elite team, I’m looking forward to it .”, said the coach
Pep also praised Jurgen Klopp, coach of the rival team. The Catalan recalled times at Bayern Munich, when the German was commander of Borussia Dortmund.
“ It makes me a better coach, it’s part of being in this role for so many years. He and his teams, here and in Dortmund, have always been great rivals with good games for both, always attractive and with a positive mentality ,” said Guardiola.
“ He made me a better coach with his teams and the way he played. The transitions they make, the space they create behind, Núñez, Salah… they have a fantastic team, there’s no doubt about that ”, added the coach.
