Problem off the field

Brazilian national team star Neymar is facing a new legal challenge due to his commercial partnership with the online betting site Blaze.

According to information from the Metrópoles website, the player was the target of a criminal report in the Rio de Janeiro Courts, accused of promoting misleading advertising for the betting company.

The process initiated includes reports from people who claim to have been financially harmed by the Blaze platform, of which Neymar has been an ambassador since 2022.

Even after the exposure of alleged consumers harmed by the online betting program on Fantástico, the player would have made three more posts promoting the platform.

Should know

The plaintiff claims that Neymar had a duty to be aware of the problems involving the platform for which he is an ambassador, especially after two years of intensive publicity.

From this perspective, the player is accused of violating the law and promoting advertising that he should have known was misleading or abusive, in accordance with article 67 of the Consumer Protection Code.

If proven, this practice can result in a prison sentence of three months to one year, in addition to the payment of a fine.

Neymar therefore faces a significant legal challenge in relation to his association with Blaze, and the outcome of this case will have important implications for his public image and career.
