Belgium close to sacking coach, Henry and Garcia ‘in the pipeline’

According to the French press, a revolution is underway in Belgian football. Domenico Tedesco, the Belgian national coach , is close to leaving. Thierry Henry and Rudi Garcia are the favourites to succeed him.
Tedesco, 39, is the successor to Roberto Martínez, now the national team coach, but has been the subject of criticism since he took over. The Italian has already led the Red Devils in three competitions: two Nations Leagues – in the first, they failed to qualify for the final four and are now fighting to stay in League A, the competition’s top tier – and in Euro 2024, where they lost in the round of 16 to France , always without playing convincing football. His time in charge was also marked by a disagreement with Courtois , who has already stated that, while Tedesco is the coach, it is unlikely that he will return to the national team. To succeed Domenico Tedesco, L’Équipe reports that the favourite is Rudi Garcia, whose last job lasted three months at Napoli , who, according to the French press, will be seen positively, mainly because of his performance at Lille : he won a championship, a cup and promoted Eden Hazard, a great star of Belgian football. In addition to Garcia, Thierry Henry, a former French star, is also being considered. Henry led the French Olympic team to the silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and was Roberto Martínez’s assistant when the now Portugal coach was in charge of Belgium.
