Jesus announces that Neymar will not be registered: “He can no longer play like he used to”
Al Hilal paid 90 million euros for the Brazilian forward
Jorge Jesus, Al Hilal coach , announced this Thursday, after the impressive thrashing (9-0) against Al Fateh, that Neymar will not be registered to play the second half of the season for the Saudi team, which paid 90 million euros to PSG for the Brazilian in the summer of 2023. A serious knee injury, suffered in October of that year, ended up taking the forward off the pitch for several months and, in a year and a half, he only played seven games for Al Hilal .
“ Neymar will not be included in the squad for the championship. He can participate in the AFC Champions League, but the Saudi league is one of the best leagues in the world… all Al Hilal players can play for any club in Europe. Neymar can no longer play at the level we are used to, things have become difficult for him, unfortunately,” he began by saying, in a press conference, speaking about his future.
“He is still under contract with Al Hilal and he can decide his future, but it depends on the management. I don’t know anything about Neymar ‘s future ,” he said, with the former PSG player being linked with a return to Santos and the MLS, to play alongside Messi and Suárez again at Inter Miami or even to be a rival.
Jesus also confirmed, in a way, that the Saudis are keeping an eye on the situation of Mohamed Salah , also at the end of his contract with Liverpool , but that this will only be possible at the end of the season: «We have a place available on the list, reserved for a player born in 2003 or later. We are currently looking for a winger to fill that position. Salah or other big names will not come this winter, but maybe this summer.»
