“Barricaded? No, the police even came here, but the doctor won’t let me move”
Juan Bernabé, former Benfica falconer, justifies his stay at Lazio’s training centre with medical reasons
A day after it was reported in Italy that Juan Bernabé had barricaded himself in Lazio ‘s training centre after being sacked by the Roman club’s president for publishing a video showing his penis, the former Benfica falconer denied the accusations.
In an interview with Radio 24, the Lazio Eagles’ keeper admits that the police beat him up because of the room he has lived in for 15 years, but that what prevents him from leaving… are medical reasons.
“Obviously, I’m not barricaded. I’m just sitting quietly in my room in Formello. This morning five police officers showed up to check if I’m barricaded, because of the news,” he began by saying.
“I can’t really stand up, otherwise I’ll lose blood from my penis and it’s very painful. I’m convalescing,” he added.
Bernabé admitted, however, that he had been notified by the club to leave the space, but he has a document that obliges him to stay. And he even says that the club is being understanding.
“They are treating me very well. I am in my room recovering my strength after the operation. It is true that they sent me a notice to leave the room on the 15th, but Dr. Antonini [the club doctor responsible for the operation, who was also fired following the case] showed me a medical certificate that prevents me from moving,” he revealed.
The technician continues to defend himself and regrets the repercussions that the case has gained. “What is the difference between a penis and a finger, or another organ of the body? If I had masturbated, it would be one thing, but I simply made a video showing an erection induced by the device [penile prosthesis]. What I did was for medical reasons”, he concluded.
