Manchester Utd.: “If you are lazy in training Amorim will ‘kill you'”
French defender Leny Yoro talks about the coach’s methods and ends up pointing out possible reasons for Marcus Rashford’s dismissal
Leny Yoro has spoken about Ruben Amorim’s intense training methods at Manchester United , offering a possible explanation for Marcus Rashford ‘s departure from loan at Aston Villa after weeks of being unused.
Yoro described Amorim’s training sessions as “tough” and said the Portuguese coach is “very strict” in an interview with former United player Rio Ferdinand.
«I have a good relationship with Ruben Amorim. I try to do what he asks me. He is very communicative with the players because he played at the highest level,” Yoro said on Ferdinand’s podcast, noting that the Portuguese is able to put himself in the players’ shoes.
“He has been at a lot of clubs, so he knows what it feels like when we are not playing or when we have a bad game. You know how to talk to us and that is very important to me. In training, it’s really, I would say, difficult. But it is important,” he added.
Then, the ‘tip’ from the 19-year-old Frenchman about the players who are left out by Amorim. He himself has already said that he pays attention to everything, from the way he trains, dresses, even eats.
«We train a lot and, for him, training is very important because you play the way you train. The most important thing is to be very good in training. If you don’t work, if you are lazy in training, he won’t like it – he will ‘kill’ you! It’s normal. He is very strict because, to win games, you need to be disciplined off the field. You need to be punctual», he noted.
The Old Trafford team were defeated 0-2 by Crystal Palace at the weekend and this Friday they play in the FA Cup: they face Leicester, managed by Ruud van Nistelrooy, who was United’s interim manager before Amorim’s arrival.
