Ten Hag breaks silence after Manchester United exit

Erik ten Hag gave an interview to the SEG Stories podcast , his first since being fired from Manchester United , to discuss his time at the helm of one of the biggest clubs in the world, the trophies he won and, of course, his departure.

The interview will only be released in full this Tuesday, but some of the coach’s answers have already been revealed, including what he misses most about his time in charge of the Red Devils : “If there’s one thing I miss, it’s Old Trafford.”

“We had a lot of high points, but there is always room for improvement and good is not good enough,” noted Ten Hag, who won an FA Cup and a League Cup in England. In the Premier League , he finished third and then eighth, but when he was sacked, he left the team in 14th place. “There is always room for improvement,” he added.

Ten Hag also assured that he wants to return to work soon, but not immediately, aiming for a project for the start of the next season: «I’ve already made the decision, I’m not going to do anything until July 1st.»

The 55-year-old has also made a name for himself as a manager with Ajax, winning the Eredivisie three times and leading them to the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League semi-finals, where they were knocked out by Tottenham ‘s Lucas Moura in added time of the second leg. Ten Hag’s 128 games in charge of United include 70 wins, 23 draws and 35 defeats.
