Man City beat Plymouth and qualify for the quarter-finals of the English Cup
Guardiola’s side knock out the biggest underdog in the FA Cup with two headers from O’Reilly and one from De Bruyne

Manchester City knocked out Plymouth Argyle in the round of 16 of the FA Cup on Saturday with a 3-1 win. With a history of defeating giants in the competition, Plymouth took the lead through Talovierov . City went on to win the match and turned the game around with two goals from O’Reilly with headers. De Bruyne scored one in the second half to seal the win. The match also saw Vitor Reis make his debut as a starter at the Etihad Stadium . Manchester qualified for the quarter-finals of the competition and await the draw to find out who their next opponent will be.
HOME PREMIERE
Vitor Reis made his second appearance for Manchester City and his first at home. The former Palmeiras defender started this Saturday against Plymouth and played the full 90 minutes. The 19-year-old was bought at the beginning of January for a fixed 37 million euros (around R$232 million) and has a contract with City until 2029.
HOW WAS THE GAME?
Manchester City dominated Plymouth throughout the first half and managed to have 88% possession. However, the visitors were more efficient and opened the scoring with their first and only shot in the half. In the 37th minute, after a corner kick, Talovierov rose higher than everyone else and headed the ball into the top corner. City were not intimidated by the opposing goal, they kept pressing and equalized in the final stretch. In the last play, De Bruyne lifted the ball into the box from a free kick. O’Reilly came from behind to head the ball into the net.
O’Reilly, who is a reserve in midfield for City, earned his chance and turned the game around after the break. Once again, he headed in a corner from Foden on the right. Plymouth tried to surprise but were unable to create any real danger. De Bruyne sealed the deal in the 45th minute, assisted by Haaland. The Norwegian shot on goal was saved by Hazard and the rebound reached the Belgian midfielder.
