French club won’t close the door on Pogba: “He must be valued”
Marseille president Pablo Longoria rejected the signing of the midfielder mid-season, but the conversation could be different in the summer
Pablo Longoria, president of Marseille , admitted that he had the possibility of signing Paul Pogba , explaining the reasons that led him not to go ahead.
“We had some conversations. We had that opportunity because he is a player who is on the market. We didn’t decide to do it this season because we thought that the recovery time could upset some of the balance in the team and would increase the level of expectation without playing. We considered it was counterproductive,” he said in an interview with El Largero , not closing the door on the French international in the summer.
“For the future… we are focused on the end of the season and maybe in three weeks we will have a clearer idea of the planning. Obviously, a man like this on the market must be valued,” he added.
Initially suspended for four years for testing positive for testosterone in August 2023, Paul Pogba saw the Court of Arbitration for Sport reduce his sentence to 18 months, giving him the green light to return to action this March.
Pablo Longoria spoke about the outburst after the defeat against Auxerre that earned him a heavy punishment.
“I am very critical of myself, I didn’t recognize myself,” he said, confessing that he regretted it.
