Van Dijk has positive news about future at Liverpool: «There is progress»

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has announced for the first time that progress is being made in negotiations with the club over a possible contract renewal. His current deal expires next summer and the Dutchman is one of three key players at the Reds who are in that situation: Mohamed Salah is also in talks, while, according to the English and Spanish press, Trent Alexander-Arnold is a certainty at Real Madrid.

“Yes, there is progress. I don’t know if I will stay, we will see. There are internal discussions. We will see. I love the club, I love Liverpool and the fans. They were here for us again and we wanted to give something back to them. I want them to be with us again in the next game on Sunday (against West Ham) and to make our stadium an exceptional place once again,” said Van Dijk, who, according to many analysts, had one of his worst games for Liverpool in the 2-3 defeat to Fulham.
