Arsenal
Mikel Arteta’s latest deals could see more spending as they look to help balance the books after a big summer spend. Rob Holding could still leave, but Arsenal ‘s transfer window has been spectacular with Declan Rice , Kai Havertz, David Raya and Jurrien Timber.
Aston Villa
It has been a strong window for Villa, with the Unai Emery factor helping them attract club-record Moussa Diaby, as well as the proven quality of Pau Torres, Youri Tielemans and Nicolo Zaniolo. Tyrone Mings’ injury was a huge blow, so hopefully the arrival of Clement Lenglet from Barcelona will help fill that gap.
Bournemouth
New manager Andoni Iraola wasted no time in bringing eight new faces to Vitality, including Leeds midfielder Tyler Adams and Bristol City’s Alex Scott, the league’s most coveted player last season. But not conceding goals will be the order of the day and a central defender remains their priority.
Brentford
Thomas Frank wants a late move for the striker as the club are increasingly resigned to losing Ivan Toney in January. They’ve tried and failed for Nottingham Forest ‘s Brennan Johnson and are eyeing PSG striker Hugo Ekitiké for a last-minute move.
Brighton
It’s been a busy window of meanderings for Brighton . They lost Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister, but when they signed Carlos Baleba from Lille there were a few Premier League clubs ready to step in. Such is the quality of Brighton’s recruitment.
Burnley
Despite spending almost £100m on 11 new players, Vincent Kompany is still without a left-back due to his inability to turn the transfer of on-loan Chelsea star Ian Maatsen into a permanent deal. He doesn’t rate Charlie Taylor and defender Hannes Delacroix made his debut there on Sunday.
Chelsea
With Cole Palmer signed, sealed and delivered, Chelsea finally appear to have finished spending. Now it’s sell, sell, sell. Marc Cucurella is on Manchester United’s list of potential recruits, Ian Maatsen has interest from West Ham , Trevoh Chalobah could raise £50m to rejoin former manager Thomas Tuchel at Bayern.
Crystal Palace
In a tactic that worked for most of the summer, everyone at Palace was expected to turn off their phones for 24 hours, especially after securing a deal for Dean Henderson on Thursday. It may not have been the most ambitious of summers, but at least they would keep Marc Guehi, Eberechi Eze, Michael Olise and Cheick Doucoure.
Everton
Everton manager Sean Dyche got the striker he so badly needed in Beto, who made an immediate impact with a goal on his debut against Doncaster in the Carabao Cup and a pledge to work hard for the club. Dyche would still like another striker, but it will probably have to be a loan player, with Southampton ‘s Che Adams still on his radar. There could also be a cheeky loan bid for a certain Manchester United defender … although very unlikely.
Fulham
Losing Aleksandar Mtrovic to the great Saudi exodus was bad enough, but if João Palhinha follows him from Craven Cottage to Bayern Munich before the window closes, Fulham – for all their spirit – will be looking over their shoulders . Everton winger Alex Iwobi and Sevilla striker Lucas Ocampos would fill in some of the gaps.
Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp has been searching for the midfielder and midfielder he feels he needs to strengthen his squad, and on Thursday night the Reds finally secured a deal for Ryan Gravenberch, who will put the finishing touches on his transfer on Friday . A defender could be more difficult to sign, while a deal could be reached for Fluminense midfielder and Brazilian international André to join in January, with negotiations ongoing. Otherwise, Liverpool will focus on expenses.
Luton
Nine new signings have already been released, at an aggregate cost of £24m, but the most expensive was Ryan Giles at £5m – and the depth of quality in both boxes is questionable. The Hatters still need a central defender and Arsenal’s Rob Holding is a favorite target.
City of Manchester
City did most of their transfer business at the start of the window, bringing in Mateo Kovacic, Josko Gvardiol and Jeremy Doku, and will add a fourth signing in Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes . City have a verbal agreement with Wolves to sign Nunes for £53m, with Tommy Doyle heading the other way on loan, although it is a separate deal. City midfielder Cole Palmer has been of interest to Chelsea and is set to move to Stamford Bridge before the deadline.
Manchester United
With Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia injured and sidelined for the long term, United are looking to sign a left-back before today’s transfer deadline. Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella was the front-runner to fill the vacancy, but United have since turned to Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon after discounting Brentford’s Rico Henry and Barcelona’s Marcos Alonso. Reguilon underwent a medical on Thursday ahead of a season-long loan. United are also considering signing a midfielder, with Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat as a target in what could prove to be a tricky loan deal, but a left-back remains the priority.
Newcastle United
With sporting director Dan Ashworth leading matters, the Magpies are unlikely to be back in final day panic, with their draft campaign almost certainly over this window. The club, however, is interested in getting rid of some fringe players.
Nottingham Forest
The biggest question is: can Forest keep £50m-rated Brennan Johnson? Tottenham are ready. Either way, expect the Reds to be typically busy. Brazilian defender Murillo has signed, and Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi, Bologna midfielder Nicolas Dominguez, Arsenal’s Nuno Tavares and Michy Batshuayi could also arrive.
Sheffield United
“Boss Paul Heckingbottom is desperate to re-sign midfielder James McAtee on season-long loan from Manchester City “. But it is understood the Blades face competition from elsewhere and a deal is by no means certain. Meanwhile, teenager Ryan One has spent the week on trial with the Hamilton Blades, aiming to agree a permanent move.
