VIDEO: Mané didn’t like leaving and Luís Castro left a message at the end of the game
Senegalese was unhappy about being substituted and the Portuguese coach spoke about the situation
On the day he was elected the best coach in Saudi Arabia in September, Luís Castro saw Al Nassr let a two-goal lead slip away against Abha, built before half-time, and canceled out by the opponent’s two goals in the second half.
But the match was also marked by the clear sign of dissatisfaction given by Sadio Mané when he was replaced by the Portuguese coach in the 80th minute, with Al Nassr still ahead on the scoreboard, as he was one of the team’s best units.
The former Liverpool player did not greet Ghareeb, the player who was going to replace him, but he did greet Luís Castro, although it seemed like an unfriendly gesture.
After the match, and assuming all blame and responsibility for the draw, Luís Castro left a message to Mané.
“You have the right to be upset, it’s normal in football. I included Ghareeb, who is an international player, just like Fofana. Some people have to understand that Al Nassr has 27 players and not 10, so it is natural for them to make substitutions, football needs to have these changes”, explained Luís Castro.
“I am responsible for losing two points today. It’s just me, it’s not the players who started the match, nor those who entered or anyone else,” he added, giving his body to the bullets.
