Early life
Sadio Mané was born on April 10, 1992 in Bambali, Sédhiou, Senegal. Although his father, the imam, forbade him from playing football, he chose to pursue a career in the sport. At the age of 15, Mané left his home village and moved to Dakar to pursue his professional ambitions.
Career
He made his professional debut in January of the following year, replacing Kévin Diaz in the 75th minute of the home defeat against Bástia. Overall, Mané made 19 appearances in his first season in the league and scored a single goal in the 2–5 defeat to Guingamp.
In the summer of 2012, Mané moved to Red Bull Salzburg. With the club he scored his first hat-trick in October; he scored another a year later. Mané’s final season at Salzburg ended with the team winning the domestic double. He later forced a transfer by failing to show up for training.
In 2014, Mané transferred to the English Premier League, joining Southampton. His time at the club was very successful, with highlights such as his speed, technique and aim. His performances caught the attention of Liverpool, who signed him in 2016.
At Liverpool, Sadio Mané established himself as one of the team’s most important players. In the game, he wore the captain’s armband in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo . Mané scored his first double when he faced Al-Fateh in the 5th round of the Saudi Championship.
