The two stars PSG wants to replace Mbappé with
With the Frenchman’s departure getting closer and closer to becoming effective, the French club, with the support of Luís Campos, is already preparing the next summer market
Kylian Mbappé ‘s contract with Paris Saint-Germain ends next June and after the player informed the club of his intention to leave Paris, two big names are already being named to help make up for the Frenchman’s departure.
As The Athletic reports , Victor Osimhen and Gavi are two of the most attractive targets for the Parisian club, which has Portuguese Luís Campos as a sports advisor, and who plays an important role in the club’s signings.
The Nigerian striker is the main candidate to replace Mbappé as PSG’s main attacking weapon. Developed at Lille , where he was curiously signed by Luís Campos, he moved to Naples in 2020, where he has scored 67 goals in 119 games, being prominent in winning Serie A last year, where he was the top scorer with 26 goals.
Despite having a contract with Napoli until 2026, the club’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, revealed that he hopes to see the player leave the club soon.
Furthermore, PSG already has a long relationship of purchasing players from Naples, given the transfers of Edison Cavani, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Fabián Ruiz (this in 2022).
Osimhen’s arrival at PSG, if confirmed, could take away space from Gonçalo Ramos in the team, who has only started four times in Ligue 1 this season and still has competition from Kolo Muani .
The same source also states that another of PSG’s objectives for the summer involves signing Gavi from Barcelona .
The French could take advantage of the Blaugrana ‘s precarious financial situation to sign the 19-year-old (who will be injured until the end of this season, after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee).
Gavi already has a connection with PSG coach Luis Enrique, who awarded him his first cap for the Spanish national team when the player was 17.
In Barcelona since 2016, Gavi has already made 111 appearances for the club’s first team. He has a contract with the club until 2026 and a release clause of one billion dollars.
However, Barcelona needs to lower the squad’s wage bill to enroll players in La Liga next season – which is why winter reinforcement Vítor Roque does not have guaranteed enrollment in the championship for 2024/25.
According to the Spanish press, Gavi has a salary of 3.26 million euros per year and his departure would provide relief to Barcelona, in addition to bringing an important financial contribution to the club.
However, as The Athletic notes, in the past, Barcelona have already stressed their intention not to sell the young player.
