Manuel Neuer will be the goalkeeper for Germany at the European Championship
Bayern Munich goalkeeper will remain in the starting line-up
The subject had been the subject of debate for several months in Germany, but Julian Nagelsmann clarified all doubts this Friday. The German coach announced that the experienced Manuel Neuer, 37 years old and with 117 appearances for the Mannschaft, will be in goal at the next European Championship, in which the Germans will play at home.
“Our decision has been made. Neuer was injured, but it’s a small thing, for 10 days, it doesn’t affect the choice. With this I want to give clarity and security to the player. I explained the decision to Ter Stegen and said that we are very lucky to have a second world-class goalkeeper”, explained the coach, at a press conference. In this way, Ter Stegen, Barcelona’s starter, will be a substitute in the European Championship. Germany will face Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland in the group stage, with the competition kicking off on June 14, against the Scots, in Munich.
