Getafe Stadium will be partially closed due to racist insults
Case occurred in the duel with Sevilla and had former Sporting Acuña as one of those targeted
Getafe will have a section of its stadium – the Coliseum – partially closed for three games, the Disciplinary Committee of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) announced this Wednesday.
The punishment follows racist insults from Getafe fans towards the Sevilla team , with whom they lost (0-1) last Saturday. Acuña, a former Sporting player, was one of those targeted (as the match referee’s minutes state), as was the team’s coach, Quique Flores
The sanction will last three games, Getafe will have to pay a fine of 27 thousand euros and, according to the RFEF minutes, display a message “condemning violent acts and behavior” in the section of the stadium that will be closed.
In the match report, referee Iglesias Villanueva detailed the following: «In the 68th minute I had to stop the game due to racist insults against the number 19 of the visiting team, with words like “ Acuña monkey” and “Acuña tu vens de monkey” from fans located in the central area of the field behind my assistant referee’s position.”
