Chelsea to spend millions on Sterling at Arsenal
Arsenal announced Raheem Sterling as their new signing , on loan from Chelsea , in the final hours of the transfer window, this Friday (30).
The Gunners will only pay a fraction of Raheem Sterling’s wages, with the Blues continuing to shoulder the remainder of the financial burden.
According to “The Athletic”, Arsenal will contribute less than half of Sterling’s salary, which, according to the English press, is worth between 300,000 and 350,000 pounds (R$ 2.2 and 2.5 million) per week.
Having played for Liverpool , Manchester City and Chelsea, Sterling signed for Arsenal before being linked with Manchester United .
Sterling’s Arsenal debut will have to wait until after the September international break as his arrival came after the match-day registration deadline to play this weekend.
The 29-year-old winger will then have two weeks to adapt to his new surroundings and be available for the North London Derby on September 15 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Chelsea manager ‘drops’ Sterling
Sterling’s situation at Chelsea became untenable after manager Enzo Maresca forced him into isolation training .
— I’m not saying Raheem isn’t a good player, but I prefer different types of wingers — said Maresca.
Sterling made 43 appearances last season and saw Joao Felix, Pedro Neto, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Marc Guiu arrive in the window, increasing competition in attack.
Now at Arsenal, Sterling will face competition from Gabriel Martinelli , Bukayo Saka , Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus and Ethan Nwaneri.
For Chelsea, the striker has scored 19 goals and provided 12 assists in 81 games. He was runner-up in the English League Cup last season, losing to Liverpool in the final at Wembley .
