Al-Nassr CEO on Cristiano Ronaldo: “He doesn’t control the club”
Guido Fienga on Cristiano Ronaldo’s role in the Saudi team
On the same day that Luis Castro was replaced by Stefano Pioli as Al-Nassr manager , the club’s CEO Guido Fienga spoke about the role played by Cristiano Ronaldo in the Saudi team.
– Cristiano Ronaldo does not control the club. But, obviously, being number one in the world, he gives directions as to where we should go and what objectives we have to achieve – highlighted the director.
However, the manager did not spare praise for the Portuguese striker, and highlighted the importance of Cristiano Ronaldo for the team, which occupies seventh place in the Saudi Championship .
– He is a winner. We asked him to teach us how to win and we want to win with him this year and achieve the best possible goals. Cristiano is part of the team and we are very happy to have him. Cristiano Ronaldo is our captain. Believe me, he is the best player in the world. Not only technically, but also because of the way he behaves – concluded Guido Fienga.
About the resignation of Luís Castro
Next, the CEO of the Saudi team commented on the replacement of Luís Castro by Stefano Pioli as the club’s technical director shortly after the start of the season.
– The decision to change coach is always difficult, but we went ahead because we believe it is the right decision. The decision to hire a new coach must take into account many variables, which Fernando Hierro (Al-Nassr’s sporting director) had to take into account – he pointed out.
Regarding the choice of the Italian coach, the director guaranteed that the former Milan coach would be the best option available on the market to take on the role.
– Hierro and his team proposed Pioli because of his high ability to teach and build a team, and not only to manage it, but also to develop the players. Now, we need to align the development of some young Saudis with that of the international players we have. The technical department believes that Pioli is the best on the market at the moment – concluded Fienga.
