André Gomes and Tiago Santos start as Lille return to winning ways

Jonathan David’s hat-trick gave Sporting’s opponents their first Champions League opening-day win in their last six games in all competitions

After four consecutive defeats, one of them against Sporting in the Champions League , at the José Alvalade Stadium, and a home draw last weekend, Lille returned to winning ways in Le Havre , this Saturday.

The team of André Gomes and Tiago Santos , who were starters, won 3-0, thanks to a hat-trick by Jonathan David . The Canadian scored twice in the first half, in the 23rd and 35th minutes, both with assists from Sahraoui, and scored the third goal near the end, in the 79th minute, with a pass from Zhegrova .

In injury time, Angel Gomes , also in the starting eleven, won a penalty but was unable to convert it, allowing Arthur Desmas to intervene , committing the foul inside the penalty area.

With these three points, the team led by Bruno Génésio moves up, conditionally, to fourth place in Ligue 1 , remaining six points behind leaders PSG , who beat Rennes last Friday.
