Champions League: Lille coach criticises refereeing
Bruno Génésio complains about foul before second yellow card seen by Angel Gomes
Lille finished the match against Sporting (a 2-0 victory for the Lions) with 10 players on the pitch. Angel Gomes was sent off in the first half but Bruno Génésio, the French coach, considers that the incident was not fair.
“I don’t want to get into controversy, but before Angel’s second yellow card, there was a foul on Andre,” said the coach, who considered that, with 11 against 11, Lille still managed to have quality on the ball. Les Dogues are on a run of four consecutive defeats, but, for Génésio, only the defeat against Saint-Étienne is worthy of criticism. “There, we all made mistakes. Players, coaches… everyone,” said the coach.
Lille ‘s first defeat in the Champions League could prove costly for the team, who will also face Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid . Bruno Génésio highlighted this: “With all due respect to Sporting , there will be more difficult teams, technically and tactically,” he said.
