Denmark beats Switzerland with nine players

Bah and Hjulmand started in Denmark’s 2-0 win. Spain and Serbia were held to a goalless draw

Denmark beats Switzerland with nine players
In Copenhagen, Denmark and Switzerland faced each other in a match counting towards the group stage of the Nations League . Alexander Bah and Morten Hjulmand started for the Danish team, while Amdouni was a substitute for the Swiss.

Switzerland played in white, but it hardly seemed like it given the number of red cards shown to the Swiss team. The ‘festival’ began in the second half, in the 50th minute, when the match referee reversed the yellow card shown to Elvedi and sent the player off for blocking a clear goal-scoring opportunity.

The balance seen in the first half gave way to Danish dominance in the second, as they were playing against 10 men. Even so, it was only in the 82nd minute that Lars Knudsen’s men managed to break the deadlock. Skov Olsen combined with Dorgu in the Swiss area and the Lecce player made no mistake.

If the match was already difficult for the Swiss, it became even more so after the 87th minute. Xhaka, who had already been booked after getting involved in a scuffle with Hjulmand, was shown a yellow card again and was also sent off. Playing against 9 men, Denmark did not let the victory slip away and still had time to extend their lead, through Hojbjerg (90+2′).

The excitement of Denmark -Switzerland contrasted with the monotony of Serbia – Spain , in the same group. Despite Spain’s dominance, the European champions were unable to break the deadlock in a match where Serbian goalkeeper Rajkovic was the hero, making five saves.
