Do you remember Adriano ‘Emperor’? There will be a farewell game

Adriano Imperador’s last game is scheduled. The iconic Brazilian forward, now 42 years old and out of action since 2016, will return to action for his farewell match.

On December 15th, at Maracanã Stadium, the Emperor will be honored in a friendly match between Flamengo  and Inter , the two clubs where he stood out the most throughout his career. Adriano will play 45 minutes for each team.

In statements quoted by Globo Esporte, the Brazilian said: «Many people asked me to say goodbye. Although I stopped a few years ago, this match was missing to end my cycle. I owed this to everyone who supported me and still supports me.»

Trained at Flamengo , Adriano represented the ‘mengão’ until 2001, when he traveled to Milan to wear the colours of Inter . Although it took a while for him to establish himself at Inter , it was in Milan that Adriano showed himself to the world of football and earned the nickname of emperor. Between 2001 and 2009, in the Italian team, the Brazilian played 177 games, scored 74 goals and won seven titles (four Italian championships, two Italian Cups and one Italian Super Cup). Between 2009 and 2010, the Emperor returned home to play a ‘leg’ for Flamengo .
