Erling Haaland is a doubt for Manchester City’s home match against Brentford, Pep Guardiola confirmed on Friday.

The Norwegian forward is mourning the death of Ivar Eggja, one of his father Alfie’s best friends and a close friend of Haaland himself.

“It’s a tough time for him and his family. Very sad news. Our thoughts are with him and his family. We’ll see tomorrow [Saturday] if he’s mentally and physically ready to play,” the coach said at a press conference.

Haaland, moreover, said goodbye to his friend on social media. “What a legend you are, Ivar. There are no words to describe how much you mean to me, nor how much I will miss you,” he wrote.

Manchester City will host Manchester City this Saturday at 3pm, in a match of the fourth round of the Premier League. Nathan Aké is confirmed to be out of the match, Guardiola revealed.
