FIFA imposes heavy suspension on Samuel Eto’o

Samuel Eto’o’s troubled presidency at the head of the Cameroonian Football Federation gained a new chapter this Monday. After the various controversies he has been collecting, as well as his battles with Cameroonian politicians , FIFA has decided to take action and imposed a heavy suspension on the former Barcelona and Inter striker.

The world football governing body considered some of Eto’o’s behavior inappropriate and, as such, announced in a statement that the former Cameroonian star has been suspended for a period of six months.

“The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has banned the President of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT), Samuel Eto’o, from attending matches of Cameroon ‘s representative teams for six months ,” FIFA said, specifying the reason for the suspension: “for violation of Articles 13 (Offensive behaviour and breach of the principles of fair play) and 14 (Improper conduct by players and officials) of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.”

“The sanction imposed concerns the round of 16 match of the U-20 Women’s World Cup between Brazil and Cameroon in Bogotá, Colombia, on 11 September 2024. The ban imposed on Eto’o will prevent him from attending men’s and women’s football matches involving FECAFOOT [ Cameroon ] representative teams in any category or age group,” FIFA added.
