German midfielder returns to Manchester City in summer transfer window

Ilkay Gundogan recalled his time at Barcelona . After a season with the Catalans, the 33-year-old midfielder returned this summer to Manchester City , where he had previously been between 2016/2017 and 2022/2023.

“I fulfilled one of my childhood dreams, playing for Barcelona and defending that emblem. It was a tough experience, but also wonderful,” he said in an interview with the Daily Mail .

“I think I had a great success there. Maybe people look at last season and think we didn’t win anything. Of course we did, but if you look at how we played, we had 85 points at the end of the season, just three less than the year before, when they were champions. We were playing against Real Madrid , which is very difficult,” he added.

The German international spoke about his return to Manchester: “You know what it’s like when you leave and come back. You’re not surprised if things are different, the dynamics are different. You have to adapt and find your role. Things change, time has passed and you have to fit in again.”
