Gyokeres’ assists and goal plot Fernando Santos
Sweden got off to a flying start in their Nations League C campaign. On their trip to Baku, the Swedes beat Azerbaijan , coached by Fernando Santos , 3-1 . Sporting forward Viktor Gyokeres started the match and was one of the stars of the game.

Despite Sweden’s dominance in the first half, the fact is that Azerbaijan could very well have gone into the break with the advantage. In the 45+7th minute, Ramil Sheydaev had a great opportunity to open the scoring, with a penalty kick. However, the aspirations of Fernando Santos’ player were thwarted by Johansson, who denied the goal with a fine save, keeping the score at half-time.

After the hour mark, Sweden finally translated their dominance into goals, and this was thanks to the work of Gyokeres. The Sporting forward started on the right, got the better of Huseynov and set up Isak (65′) in the heart of the area, making it 1-0 for the Swedes.

The Sporting forward was not satisfied and, in the 71st minute, he assisted Isak again to make it 2-0. Gyokeres sent the Newcastle forward through and he chipped the ball over the Azerbaijan goalkeeper.

Towards the end, Gyokeres showed that he doesn’t just know how to assist and also wrote his name on the scorers’ list. From the penalty spot, the Sporting forward made it 3-0 for the Swedes. Fernando Santos’ team managed to reduce the deficit shortly afterwards. Dadasov (82′) headed the ball into Johansson’s net, making it 3-1.
